Kim Dixon leaves James Bay New HorizonsKim Dixon a good friend of VLSCS and Victoria lesbians leaves James Bay New Horizons Center. On September 3, 2008, those of us attending the Victoria Lesbian Senior Care Society Wednesday coffee group said their goodbyes to Kim Dixon, who has been the executive director of James Bay New Horizon for 13 years.
Kim has been an advocate for inclusion and was instrumental in offering us a space to hold events sponsored VLSCS. Her vision and support has helped members of our community feel at home at JBNH when attending Wednesday coffee and other VLSCS events held on these premises. In October, 2007, Kim received the Rainbow Award presented by VLSCS in acknowledgement of JBNH’s contribution of a welcoming space for us. We are proud to see it hanging in the hallway at JBNH. Kim has moved on to a cause near and dear to her, Pacifica Housing, Fortunately for all of us, she will still be in Victoria, so some of us may run into her from time to time.
