Survey says…Tea Dance Social Success!
Liz staff writer
“Laughing, dancing, singing, meeting new people, the fun, the food, the conversation, mixing, meeting women, the smiles” these were what women enjoyed most about the second ever Tea Dance Social for middling to senior lesbians held at the Paisley Restaurant in Esquimalt this past Sunday October 12th.
“Even better than the first,” declared Rebecca V.S. “Can’t wait for the next one.”
Respondents to a survey at the event heartily agreed that yes, the Tea Dance Social had “very much” improved their sense of community and well-being, “absolutely”, “positively”, and “for sure”. And they all said they “would recommend the Tea Dance Social to a friend.”
Next Tea Dance Social to Celebrate the 50′s
The third ever Tea Dance Social will be held Sunday November 9th from 4-9 pm at the Paisley. Come dressed and ready to celebrate the 50′s! Tickets are $15 in advance, available at the Paisley Restaurant, Chronicles of Crimes, and VLSCS’ Wednesday Coffee Talk and Friday Night Movie.
Organizers of the Tea Dance Social plan to “keep having them every month”, as a respondent suggested. The Tea Dance Social will take place the second Sunday of every month going forward, so middling to senior lesbians should mark their calendars also for December 14th and January 11th.
Survey respondents suggested future Tea Dance Socials should include “more themes and other artists ABBA was good”, “the music from Mamma Mia”, “dance lessons”, “ballroom dancing”, and “dance games, like when the music stops and you change your partner”, “karaoke”, and just plain “keep it up!”
Getting in Touch with the Tea Dance Social
The Tea Dance Social is hosted by a small group of volunteers dedicated to improving social opportunities for middling to senior lesbians, whom they encourage to “get out their dancing shoes, enjoy an evening out with old friends, make new friends, and have some old time fun.” To receive Tea Dance Social emails and free event posters, contact ready.edit@yahoo.ca.
